Discover the Province with the Highest Growth in the Dominican Republic and its Real Estate Attractiveness

In recent years, the Dominican Republic has witnessed impressive growth in several provinces, both in terms of population and real estate development. According to preliminary data from the 2022 National Population and Housing Census, provided by the National Statistics Office (ONE), four provinces have stood out in this phenomenon. In this article, we introduce you to the province with the highest growth and how this has translated into an exciting opportunity in the real estate market.

La Altagracia: An Epicenter of Growth: The province of La Altagracia, home to the iconic tourist hub of the Dominican Republic, has experienced impressive growth. According to the census, its population increased by a staggering 63.27%, from 273,210 inhabitants in 2010 to 446,060 in 2022. This rapid growth not only reflects its popularity as a tourist destination, but also its attractiveness as a place to invest in real estate.

A Booming Real Estate Market: La Altagracia has not only seen an increase in its population, but also in the number of registered properties. During the 2018-2022 period, a total of 9,467 properties were registered in this province, according to data from the General Directorate of Internal Taxes (DGII). This trend suggests a booming real estate market, with a wide variety of properties available to investors and buyers.
Santiago de los Caballeros: Hand in Hand with Growth: Santiago de los Caballeros, which has taken second place in terms of population growth, has experienced a significant increase in its population. In 2010, it had 963,422 inhabitants, and by 2022, this number increased to 1,074,648. This growth has coincided with an increase in the demand for properties, since the DGII registered 3,920 properties in this period.

Santo Domingo: Opportunities in the Capital: The capital, Santo Domingo, continues to be a magnet for growth and investment. With a population that has increased by 395,219 people in the last ten years, this province has registered 3,055 properties according to the DGII. This combination of population growth and real estate opportunities makes Santo Domingo an attractive destination for both living and investing.

La Vega: A Center in Growth: The province of La Vega has also experienced a constant growth in its population, going from 394,205 inhabitants in 2010 to 442,720 in 2022. This increase goes hand in hand with an increase in the number of registered properties, with 1,767 properties in the 2018-2022 period.

Real Estate Growth in Figures: In the aforementioned period, the total number of properties in the Dominican Republic has increased from 63,038 in 2018 to 95,774 in 2022, according to the DGII. This reflects the sustained attractiveness of the real estate market in the country.
The Dominican Republic, and in particular provinces such as La Altagracia, Santiago de los Caballeros, Santo Domingo and La Vega, are experiencing impressive growth both in population and in the real estate market. These provinces offer a unique opportunity for foreign investors and buyers looking to be a part of this exciting development. Whether as a solid investment or a new home, these provinces offer a world of possibilities in the burgeoning Dominican real estate scene. Don't miss the opportunity to be part of this story of growth and success!
